Welcome to baseball and the 9U Jr. Berries Program.

For players born in 2015 and 2016. Players who were born in 2017 and have played at least one year in 7U Jr. Berries can choose to register in either 7U Jr. or 9U Jr.

The 9U Jr. Berries Program was designed by Baseball Canada to create an active environment with skill stations and games. The Saskatoon Minor Baseball website has lots of information on the Rally Cap division. Please look it over. You can click on the Rally Cap logo on the right side of the main page to go directly to the Baseball Canada site or you can click on the Rally Cap division for the Saskatoon Rally Cap program.

If your daughter wishes to play on an all-girls baseball team, please register through the Saskatoon Royals zone.

As part of the Jr. Berries program, each player receives a report card and a ball cap based on their skill level.

Highlights of 9U Jr. Berries include:

9-12 players/team
Have friends on your team.
Spring loaded pitching machines operated by coaches (generally 9 out of 10 pitches are strikes)
Out on base the same as regulation baseball
No walks
Maximum 4 runs/inning
Runners only advance on hit ball or force (no leadoffs or stealing)
Jerseys and hats are supplied.
Must supply own glove, pants and batting helmet.
Rally Cap Program
If diamond is rained out, move to the grass for development work.

Click on the registration link on the home page (see tab above). You will be asked to choose either Mon/Wed or Tue/Thu nights. If it does not matter which night, please make a note in the comment session. You can request to be on the same team with a friend or friends however priority of team and friend selection will be given to those that volunteer their time to coach a team. Please make a note in the comment section.

Coaching is a key element to this program so please volunteer. Each team requires 2-3 parents to lead the charge. Parents, team up together and help coach!

9U Jr. Berries Advanced (Birth Year - 2015)

2024 registration Fee: $275.00

Baseball Saskatoon has added an Sr. Rally Cap Advanced Division for players born in 2015 and with at least one year of previous playing experience (and only 2015 with no exceptions). The purpose of the Sr Rally Cap Advanced Division is to create a higher level of play for those 2015 born players who have experienced playing Rally Cap for a number of years. In past years, there has been a marked skill difference between some of the last year Sr Rally Cap players and first year Sr Rally Cap players. We wanted to create a league to bridge some of our advanced players to the next level of ball and have them play against other players at a similar level in a fun and competitive environment.

The new Sr Rally Cap Advanced Division will run from early May to the middle of July with a year-end league tournament.

11U A Rules

Games are 6 innings long.
6 run limit per inning
10 runs up after 4 innings.
All players bat.
Batters start with a 1-1 count.
No stealing
No lead offs.
Runners at 3B cannot advance home on a passed ball.
No walks
Player's pitch

If a pitcher is unable to throw strikes to a batter, instead of a walk the offensive team coach will throw 3 hittable pitches.

The schedule will be played similar to 11U in that there will not be set days of the week for you to select your games like in traditional Sr Rally Cap. There will also be an additional fee to account for the longer season.

2024 9U Jr. Berries Advanced Registration Fee - $275.00

NOTE: We allow players born in 2015 to try out for 11U and if they aren't ranked in the top half of all players (have to make AAA or AA Tier 1) they are returned to Advanced Rally Cap and we reimburse them the difference of the 11U fee and the Advanced Rally Cap fee less a $50 tryout fee.
